What about a full horse shoe dogbone with either end dissappearing into tunnels for hidden stirage yards under the main station?
A tangential offshoot to the turntable and engine terminal?

A large trestle bridge spanning a valley on the south end before it dissappears into the tunnel/storage yards.
Inside top loop could involve, sawmill and station, small engine service and a track winding up a mountain to a logging camp?
The top outside track mates with the hidden sidings under the station. Then the whole top LH corner becomes mountains and forests, fields and rock faces etc.

Could I email you my basic plan as there is a vague similarity to mine and you may gleen some ideas as I yours, The layout is NFP as I am modifying a magazine plan. Your available space is a bit smaller than mine

Try Ebay for your cork. Postage adds to the shop cost but you can get most things you need delivered to your door, saves the hasstle of going around looking & eventually buying lots of things that you hadn't planned for.

Have you thought about putting in a backscene, before the other scenics. Since once the basboard scenics are down it's going to get harder to put the backscene in, especially if you then decide to add wispy clouds in the corners!

Im sorry but this set with Wadebridge could be any Southern Pullman train, it does NOT have the red boards on the deflectors or the buffer board. I too have travelled behind wadebridge on the Warercress line and enjoyed it very much but without the boards itss just another train.
